The film 2 States is from the book by Chetan Bhagat that has been adapted into a film.

This story starts from IIM Ahmedabad where the two, Krish Malhotra (Arjun Kapoor)  the Punjabi boy from Delhi meets Ananya Swaminathan (Alia Bhatt) the girl coming from Chennai. It takes some time for the two to pair up with one another. At first friendship and the after some days begin their love affair. The two are happy to be in the company of one another and decide to get married once they have got jobs.

The film Gunday under the Yasraj Films banner kicks-off with the plot of the making of Bangladesh. Along with the violence and the horror of the early 70s prevalent in Bengal, the film brings in the story set during the formation of the new country. It is about two young boys who have suffered losses and are left with themselves and moved into Calcutta as refugees.
