What Lures People into Politics

It is really difficult to find out why people are running after political parties to join them. Many reasons crop up in my mind. This is the way my feeling is.

Politics has become a cheap affair.

Politics and Craze – more Haze for Me

I think this time, the 2014 General elections is making a lot of noise all around. Whether you are in politics, like to discuss about politics, have no liking about politics, simply hate politics, you cannot be spared from the entire hullabaloo about it.

Politics in India at its Low -- My Daily Write-up

Parliament of India

Politics in India at its Low...

Politics in India is in no way Shining, moreover, it is losing Sheen. The incidents that are taking place in the Parliament…The Temple of Political Activities…and also in the different Assembly’s in different States make an Indian hang his/her in shame.

How is the world looking at all this nonsense happening. If we Indians can feel the shame then the world must be mocking at us.

We are proud to say India is the largest democracy in the world. Actually does Democracy exist?

Modi Syndrome and Dadababu

Our Videshi Dada has created a furore with his comment on Modi. Why so much is being said and discussed about Modi?

Modi has become a hero...positive or negative...they know the best who think about him...for love or in fear...

Some Members of Parliament have tried to move from the Indian shores to the American land by expressing their views via a letter, pitching their voice against Modi. Is the American President, so silly a man, to read the lines of these pseudo secular people and then rest his decision basing on their thoughts?

Even in a small family, if there is any problem, no one will like to wash their family’s dirty linen on the street and lo behold, these people are trying to do a dirty work in spreading their dirty thought overseas.

Is there no protocol for the members of Parliament? I think there is as they take an oath before taking up their responsible seats. Anyway, the Modi Syndrome has bitten into them.

Fear, anger or hatred...for what?...that makes this man all the more popular with every wrong move taken against him.

Even our learned Dadababu knowingly has made this mistake.

Nothing positive will emerge from negative thoughts. Leave aside all the ugly thought which is turning the issue murkier and let the intelligent people of this nation decide who is right and who is wrong.

Beating Retreat at Vijay Chowk

This is the first time I got the opportunity to witness the Beating Retreat ceremony at Vijay Chowk in Delhi.

This ceremony is held every year on the 29th of January and it marks the official end of the Republic Day celebrations. It had been a cold day and so carried extra woollies to protect from the chill that comes down as the sun slowly dips into the western horizon.

The different groups of bandsmen in uniforms were ready by the time the President, Pratibha Patil reached. She was seen waving to the people from her car. Soon the Tricolour was unfurled with the first sound of the drums and Vijay Chowk resonating with the notes of our National Anthem as people stood up in respect.

The President took her seat with the three Service Chiefs seated behind her.

There were camels decked in colourful attires with men seated on their backs and stood on top on both sides of the North and South Blocks. They looked so disciplined as they stood still without making any movements at all. Soon horses came along with the motorcade of the President and took their positions.

As the national flag fluttered with the soft cool breeze, the band started playing. Everything is so organised and time bound and disciplined that the function started right on time. The ceremony opened with a parade by select contingent of Armed forces band. The next one hour was filled with music and sound created by the drummers, trumpeters, buglers, bagpipers, the brass bands, the bagpipers, which impressed all those present for the ceremony. Two new tunes were played this year for this occasion.

As the buglers sounded the “Retreat”, the flag was lowered and people stood up to catch a glimpse. And then the bands started marching up the Raisana Hills with the sound of the favourite tune, “Saare jahan se accha”. The camels and horses were seen moving away and disappearing from sight.

When we thought the ceremony had come to an end, there was something very spectacular that caught the eyes. Dusk had descended and light was fading and at that moment, all on a sudden, the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Parliament, the North and South Blocks suddenly lit up. They were decked up with thousands of electric bulbs. This was indeed a moment that I can never forget...hypnotising moment. The lights kept people looking at the buildings as though they have been mesmerized by some charm or spell.

No one was allowed to carry cameras or mobile phones with them as they entered the restricted area. There was heavy security and commandos were perched on tower tops close by There was four checking points before getting seated. From the place where we had our seats, the view was very good. The saddest part was I could not take pictures of this ceremony. How long it will last in my memory....but surely I’ll tell my grandchildren about it...

Celebrating Women’s Day

When the 8th of March was chosen as the special and dedicated day for women across the globe, this was, to protect and promote certain causes of the women in general. There lies the secret of celebrating a day which has been stamped “Women’s Day” across the globe.

I don’t want to peek into the past but want to look at the present while aspiring for a better tomorrow, all for the cause of the still considered weaker section of the human society – the women lot.

Why only this day do we (women) have to be special. Women are special for they are Mother’s. 'Mother',  the word everyone has love and respect for.

Mother is the most respected word. We also address our country as “OUR MOTHERLAND”.

Women nurture, raise, nurse and care for people in and around their lives. What would the world be like without Women? A simple question but difficult for a reply.

Today, the Women’s Reservation Bill is waiting to be passed in both the houses of the Parliament. This too had to wait for years. If this goes through, surely it will make this Women’s Day phenomenal.

Jai ho and Happy Women’s Day.

Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander

With the elections coming to an end, it is celebration time for the winners. New hopes gather for some, for they may be the lucky winners to get a ministerial berth. For others, though they have made way to the Parliament, they will remain the back benchers.

It had been months, so much had been written, read, discussed, viewed, heard, and all of a sudden the blaring stops. The country moves one step further, to see selection of ministers and allocation of portfolios. Once again the parliament sessions will be held, new Bills will be brought and commotion will take toll of time.

This time once again the voters have shown that it should be more of a single party rule in the country, though this time also there has been partnership with some. The losers sit back to analyse their defeat and gear up to make strategies to come up as winners the next time.

But a clear mandate has been given.

At last the IPL Season 2 trophy has been lifted by the Deccan Chargers. It is always the winner who lifts the trophy. Click, click, click, the clicks go on and on and in the end the winners photos adorn the front pages of the newspaper and magazine.

Though the Indian crowd watched the game on their TV sets, the enthusiasm and interest of the cricket fans of this country did not die out. Instead they could get to see the beauty of South Africa captured through the lens of the camera man and brought home in bits and pieces during the telecast of the matches.

It was an unexpected winning team who held the trophy high, their fan followers dancing in merriment at their spectacular win. And the sure finalists disappointed their fans.

But who cares, after all one has to win, be declared the winner and go home with not only the trophy but the huge winning amount.

It is winning that matters.

Isn't it rightly said “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander”.

Agree or deny?
