The film 2 States is from the book by Chetan Bhagat that has been adapted into a film.

This story starts from IIM Ahmedabad where the two, Krish Malhotra (Arjun Kapoor)  the Punjabi boy from Delhi meets Ananya Swaminathan (Alia Bhatt) the girl coming from Chennai. It takes some time for the two to pair up with one another. At first friendship and the after some days begin their love affair. The two are happy to be in the company of one another and decide to get married once they have got jobs.

As the two belong to different states with different cultures, they face problems. Krish’s mother Mrs Malhotra (Amrits Singh) and his father Mr. Malhotra (Ronit Roy) don’t pull on well though they live together. Mr. Malhotra drinks a lot while Mrs. Malhotra takes pain to bring up her son.

Krish’s mother is not in favour of her son getting married to a Madrasi, and Ananya’s parents also are against their daughter getting married outside their community.

The film is a simple romantic story and moves at a very slow pace in the beginning. They show the tradition and the culture of the people of Chennai and also that of the Punjabis.

The music is good and also the direction. The actors have done justice to their roles.

This movie can be watched one time.
